The feedback received by ACCA on the range of speakers, modern facilities, relevance, guidance and information provided at the 2018 Annual ACCA Conference was overwhelmingly positive. Embodying the conference theme – STAY CONNECTED – delegates were exposed to topics and speakers including: the legal status of cremated remains; the safe cremation of radioactive materials, including the modern changing world of pacemakers; how to deal with the aftermath of a crisis when dealing with the media; the advantages of online streaming of funeral services and the technology advancements clearly explained; and the rapidly changing and increasingly diverse way people opt to be memorialised in this day and age.
A main highlight of the conference was the ACCA Conference dinner at the Brisbane Town Hall which was themed "Great Gatsby". Sponsored by Platinum Corporate Sponsor, ARROW BRONZE, this was a spectacular evening, where delegates got themselves immersed in the theme and enjoyed various networking opportunities.
The conference also offered delegates the pleasure of visiting three very different cemeteries and crematoria, including Mount Gravatt Cemetery and Crematorium, Centenary Memorial Gardens and Toowong Cemetery, which provided delegates with excellent examples of history, heritage, and also a more recently established cemetery. We hope all ACCA delegates thoroughly enjoyed the learning and networking opportunities provided and as always, continue to employ these learning avenues in their daily working lives.
The exhibitors in the Trade Show, were as usual, a major conference highlight and provided their sales resources to be on-hand to engage with delegates throughout the conference. A major networking hub, the Trade Show was a prime location for learning, networking, and communicating about products and services important to the cemetery and crematoria sector.
