Cemetery Manager – Mount Gravatt, Brisbane City Council

Salary Range: AUD $92,216 to $102,536 plus superannuation (Remuneration stated is for the full-time positions)

Brisbane City Council operates 12 cemeteries and 3 crematoria facilities across the city which deliver important services to our local community. Our dedicated team of customer service professionals provide a vital and sensitive service at each of these facilities.

In this role you will be responsible for the daily burial and cremation operations at a Mt Gravatt Cemetery, by providing leadership and support to the field and office staff. This is a hands on role which includes administration, customer service both face to face and over the phone to deliver quality service in challenging and emotional circumstances. You will be responsible for the over site of the grounds maintenance schedules and fleet management including machinery and the cremator. If you are successful in this role you must be prepared to work in any of Council's cemeteries.

In this role you will:
• supervise and assist funeral directors, families and caterers
• addressing concerns raised by bereaved families in a sensitive and responsive way
• dealing with operational issues quickly and in a manner consistent with Council policies and procedures
• manage grounds and fleet maintenance schedules
• oversee and support office and field staff to ensure all operations of the cemetery run seamlessly.

To be successful, you will have:
• experience in the management of field based operations and maintenance of a large public facility
• proficient interpersonal skills to develop and manage stakeholder relationships in a customer driven, commercially competitive environment
• project management experience including liaising with internal and external suppliers, contractors and delivering on agreed timeframes, budgets and operational improvement strategies
• collaborative decision making skills to prioritise and influence operational improvements impacting service delivery
• proficient research, analysis and reporting to senior management.
