This role sits within our Customer Response Department which is made up of the Local Laws, Public Health and Customer Services streams. Customer Response provides front line service delivery and aims to provide a high standard of positive and proactive service experiences.

About our opportunity
We have a unique opportunity available for a Cemetery Services Coordinator to join and strengthen our Cemetery Services team.

This position will be responsible for the effective delivery of cemetery services functions across multiple geographical locations to meet the growing needs of Council’s broader region, ratepayers, residents and stakeholders. This will involve the coordination of our general cemetery operations and activities including strategic planning, operational service delivery and financial management.

Extensive relationship management and stakeholder engagement will be a key requirement of the role to ensure service deliverables are achieved and a contemporary approach to workforce management and practices are endorsed. In addition, this position will be instrumental in the future development and implementation of a Cemetery Plan and Capital Works Program for our projected service delivery. This provides a challenging yet rewarding opportunity that will enable and maintain Council’s cemeteries and cemetery land to be places for interment, privacy and reflection.

About you
We’re looking to leverage your background and knowledge in operational cemetery services and harness your business management and customer service skills. You will be well versed and confident with reviewing and developing a range of business and project delivery documentation, particularly within a legislative environment and local government.

You will be empathetic and professional in your approach to handling sensitive information, ensuring respect and proactive resolution of escalated issues. It will be paramount you value safety and can support and promote safe working methods and practices across the cemetery team and can build high level relationships with a range of stakeholders including funeral directors, internal departments and contractors. You will also have experience managing teams, developing individuals and be capable of driving high performance.

It will be desirable for you to hold a project management or business qualification that will highlight and strengthen your skillset in developing, scoping, costing and delivering a Capital Works Program and developing a Cemetery Plan.
